Getting to Dungeon Designer Pro

After you have installed DD Pro and launched CC3, click image\dd2.gif on the File toolbar. Click on this button. This brings up the DD Pro interface. The most noticeable differences are the new set of buttons and a new menu. If you can’t see the button, select the Tools button (image\tools.gif) then make sure that File Toolbar is selected.

Starting a Dungeon

Click New image\NEW.gif. If you want to make a dungeon out pieces that you simply stick together,see Dungeon Geomorphs. If you want a normal dungeon, select one that does not say "Geomorph" in front of it.

Save the drawing with a new name.

3  Select a symbol button appropriate for the symbols you want to insert.

ADD ROOM and ADD CORRIDOR make it easy to create dungeons and floorplans very quickly.

Draw your rooms using the Add Room button image\room.gif

Use the Add Corrdor button to draw corridor networks. Press "C" to connect the corridors to rooms and existing corridors.

Select a.Symbol Catalog icon Choose symbols and place them using the arrow keys and SHIFT + CTRL to rotate them. Use Lock Symbol Angle to align symbols with walls that are not aligned to the grid. Wall Features automatically align to the walls.

Draw a solid-filled square on the BACKGROUND (MAP) layer.

[Optional] Draw a layout using lines in an unusual color on a temporary layer.

Use the Wall Width toggle button to choose a suitable wall width. Use the Wall button image\Wall.gif to add the dungeon walls to your design.

Use a few walls as possible and try not to end a wall on a corner. Use Lines for walls which stretch from one wall to another within a dungeon. Internal walls should be separate entities to external walls to make solid filling easier.

Draw rough cave walls using the Walls button with a line width of 0. Use lots of nodes.

Draw smooth cave walls using the Smooth Path button (image\DRWSPLINE.gif).

Select a.Symbol Catalog button Choose symbols and place them using the arrow keys and SHIFT + CTRL to rotate them. Use Lock Symbol Angle to align symbols with walls that are not aligned to the grid. Wall Features automatically align to the walls.

  1. Use Copy and Multipoly to create a background for the map.
