DD Pro version 6 differences

Since version 6 of CC3 was released, a number of changes have been made to DD Pro. Some features are now redundant (due to the version 6 improvements); a few have been added.

Room and Corridor utilities

These commands allow you to construct dungeons and floorplans in record time. You can make square, rectangular, circular or polgonal rooms, and connect corridors with variable width to the room and other corridors.

Redundant features

Many redundant features have been removed from the Dungeon menu.

Grid Overlays These drew a hex or square grid over an area. CC3 now replaces these with Hex Grid and Square Grid from the Draw menu. These are dialog driven and have many more options. The various symbosl which cut holes in walls are now optional (see New Symbol Catalogs, below)

Number label. This is now present on the CC3 Draw menu, much improved.

Break then insert commands. These cut a hole then enabled you to choose a direction and insert a symbol. The Wall Features catalog now does this automatically.

New symbol catalogs

DD Pro has new uses CC3’s new version 6 smart symbols to let you easily rotate and insert doors and other wall features into position. When you select a door and move it over a wall, it automatically rotates into position. Smart symbols can also cut gaps in walls, making the symbols on the Dungeon menu optional.

Symbols such as Arrow Slits also scale themselves, allowing you to fit them into walls of any width.

To see the new symbols, select the Wall Features catalog button image\Wall_Features.gif . The new catalogs are listed below. Press the Catalog button and look for these catalogs in the Symbols\Dungeons\Filled folder.

Catalog

Purpose

Wall Features 31 with control points.fsc

Wall Features with control points.fsc

Aligns to any entities, no background color

Wall Features Cutting.fsc

Aligns to any entities, cuts a gap to make space for the entities.

New way of drawing walls

Whilst you can still use the default way of drawing walls, CC3 has a new entity the Network that allows you to create walls which clean themselves up, can vary in width along each span and are easily controllable.

Sheets

Sheets are a new feature that will allow you to create multiple dungeon layers in one map without a significant speed sacrifice. Alternatively, you can use them to make entities secret whilst still retaining layer information.

Geomorphs

Geomorphs no longer work exactly as originally specified. When you scale them, the width of the walls also scales, too. To deal with this, Explode all the geomorphs when you have finished inserting the symbols and select Edit > Change Line Width, select by layer Walls, Do it, then select a line width.
