The third issue of the Annual 2008 looks at creating heraldic shields and devices to enhance your fantasy campaigns or even illustrate your family history. It includes the amazing heraldry artwork of Master Mapper Lonny Eckert, updated to take full advantage of CC3's new features.

The second issue of the Annual 2008 takes a detailed look at creating new symbols for Campaign Cartographer, Dungeon Designer and City Designer. It connects to the January issue by doing several new Pete Fenlon style symbol as an example. That way you can extend the style almost without limits.

The January issue of Cartographer's Annual 2008 has been released

The Annual 2008 has now been released and announced via a mailing to all subscribers. If you haven't done so already, you can setup your subscription through your order link. Please use our tracking page if you haven't archived or bookmarked the appropriate email.

The January issue brings subscribers the amazing mapping style that Pete Fenlon used in the famous campaign and adventure modules for ICE's middle-earth role-playing game. Take a look at the Annual 2008 gallery to see what we mean.

11th December 2007: CC3 Patch 5 released

We've released the next patch for CC3 which fixes a few annoying bugs regarding bitmap display and introduces some new features. Here's the full list of fixes:

CC3 version 3.18-3.20

  1. Added "Apply" button to Print Dialog Box. This will save the current print settings, which can then be saved with the drawing.
  2. Redone status indicator to be a clickable color.
  3. Added a thumbnail width to bitmap fill styles.
  4. Skewed display of png symbols at 90°, 180° and 270° fixed.
  5. Skewed Symbols
  6. All trim commands now show their results.
  7. Many group plus sheet bugs which resulted in double actions on edit command fixed.
  8. Print previewing bug; with overlapping tiles, pngs appeared twice.
  9. Print settings will now save with all drawings.
  10. Filled entities with a fill style ouline on, with a non solid line style did not display when their edges didn't intersect with the view window. Now they do.
  11. CC2 Filled Vegetation symbol settings fixed to switch to VEGETATION layer correctly.

29th August: CC3 Compatibility Update for Cosmographer 3 released

To make the Cosmographer add-on available from within your CC3 installation, the corresponding compatiblity update has been released. You can download it from your registration page, if you have registered CC3 and Cosmographer Pro.

28th August: Symbol Set 2 for CC3 released

We've released the gorgeous new version of Symbol Set 2 - Fantasy Floorplans for Campaign Cartographer 3. Beautiful new bitmap symbols and two complete new drawing styles make your dungeon maps and battlemats even more variable and stunning.

28th June: CC3 Patch 3 released
(version 3.11)

In our ongoing quest to keep Campaign Cartographer 3 the best mapping software out there, we've released another major update, offering siginificant improvements to the software and fixing numerous bugs. The update is available for registered users free of charge. Just visit your registration page to download it.

Unfortunately an installation problem cropped up in version 3.10 and we had to take the patch out of circulation for a while. This has been fixed, the patch has ben thoroughly tested and is now available as 3.11

Here is the list of new features and bug fixes:

CC Version 3.11

  1. .NET dependencies in the menu configuration utility removed.
  2. Installation bug removed.

CC Version 3.10

New Features

  1. Increased number of slots of for symbol settings.
  2. File convertor handles layer names with colons for cosmographer support.
  3. Effects settings now saved with drawing. Can be overriden on Options.
  4. CC3 now supports an enrypted PNG file format called pfimg. If a png file is not present, CC3 will look for the pfimg equivalent so that it can display the drawing. You can't save drawings which have pfimgs in them - it's just for viewing. A conversion utility is available for developers.
  5. CC3 now supports html/chm help for Vista compatibility.
  6. Introduce the Global Sun which can interact with filters to allow a global sun direction. It is saved with the drawing. Wall Shadow, Directional is a new filter which uses it.
  7. You can open folders full of pngs in the symbol catalog window directly instead of converting then to symbols.
  8. Added a default sheet for text placement on Drawing Properties dialog.
  9. Mirroring of PNG entities supported, and added to the symbol insertion dialog.
  10. Improvements to Import PNG Fill Styles
    • The path of imported fill styles can be fixed as relative to CC3, to the current drawing. A wrong option will cause a warning.
    • Other resolution files are created automatically.
  11. Improvements to Import Symbols
    • The path of imported fill styles can be fixed as relative to CC3, to the current drawing. A wrong option will cause a warning.
    • You can update an existing symbol catalog with just the new or changed PNGs or redo the lot.
  12. The Hex or Square overlay... command now lets you add labels to the grid - either inside or inside the squares.

Beta Features

These are for testing, and subject to change.

  1. A new filter, Wall Shadow, Point Light allows you to specify multiple light sources.
  2. SHADEPOLY adds an angled bitmap fill styles to a polygon. Set the current fill style as a bitmap one, then type SHADEPOLY and select the polygon. SHADEPOLY2 lets you choose an edge to align to. PITCH is the angle of the polygon to the global sun.

Bug Fixes

  1. Fixed disappearing images where not all resolutions present in image folder.
  2. Fixed a memory leak in the bitmap generation code.
  3. Fixed a bug in effects which caused a crash when a bitmap file was missing.
  4. Fixed an issue caused by Vista which disabled mouse hooks.
  5. Removed some redraws from New Drawing Wizard
  6. Fixed Resolution Mode issues
  7. Symbols in a collection with only one member aren't marked as a collection in the symbol catalog window.
  8. Fixed a sheet bug with Change Properties
  9. Corrected a bug when a sheet with effects cannot be deleted.
  10. Corrected fill style resolution error in New Drawing Wizard.

We've completed and released the new free viewer and printer for version 3 of Campaign Cartographer.
Need to share your maps with people who don't own CC3? Get CC3 View to let them see your works in their native format.

Check out the sixth month of the The Cartographer's Annual 2007! It contains a collection of Parchment & Paper templates, which will make your maps look like they've been drawn on ancient parchment or paper. Different bitmaps provide that certain textured look and a variety of different sheets, tools and symbols can be applied to make the background look freshly cut, tattered, torn, burned, stained, previously written on, or many other things.

29th March 2007: Source Maps: Cities released

ProFantasy releases the third product in the Source Maps series. Source Maps: Cities! brings you 8 historical cities mapped in glorious detail, more than 70 urban floorplans, historical background on each city, adventures, plot hooks, NPCs and new tools for Campaign Cartographer 3.

We've cooperated with a number of different game companies to include a variety of game stats for all the characters included, bringing you material for such systems as d20, Savage Worlds, HERO, HARP and Chimera. Check out the Cities! product page to find out more.

1st November 2006: DD Pro Compatible with CC3

DD Pro is now fully compatible with CC3. To get the compatiblity update, login to the registered users' area, register DD2 or DD Pro, and download the update.
