Multi-Wall Net

The Multi-Wall Net command creates nets based on a previously drawn, "top down" view of a wall.

To use this command:

1Click on the Multi-Wall Net icon image\wmnet.gif.

2Select the line or path entity that depicts the top-down view of the wall you intend to produce CCD wall nets for.

3Either type the desired height of the wall at the command line, or click twice within the drawing to measure out the desired wall height.

4Either type the desired width of the wall, or press Enter to select the value shown.

5Click within the drawing to place the desired lower left corner for the resultant wall net(s).

CCD draws the wall nets required to assemble a 3D version of the wall path originally selected.

6Re-arrange the wall nets drawn so that they fit within one or more CCD template sheets.

Some of the wall nets may be created outside of a CCD template sheet. To ensure the quick-print buttons produce the desired result, you must arrange the nets so that they do not overlap the edges of a drawing sheet. If necessary, you may need to arrange the wall nets within more than one sheet.

Multi-Wall Net Tips

The Multi-Wall Net command takes the width of the selected top-down view path by default. If the path has a width of 0 and another width is not selected, then the resultant wall nets will consist of a "front" and "back" panel only - the Multi-Wall Net command will not draw side panels and glue tabs in this case.

Because the Multi-Wall Net command has the potential to create a large number of wall sections, you can limit the total length of wall to be taken for the purposes of this command within the Dioramas Options dialog.

If you have an existing dungeon, floorplan, or other drawing you wish to translate into CCD terms, you can do so by following this procedure:

1Open the existing drawing.

2Switch to the CCD menu by clicking on the CCD icon image\Dioramas_Icon.gif.

3Hide all layers but that upon which the desired walls are drawn (usually the WALLS layer - refer to the CC3 manual and on-line help for more information regarding layer manipulation).

4Click on the Multi-Wall Net icon.

5Select a wall entity within your existing drawing.

6Determine wall height as described above.

7Click on a location within your drawing, to the right of the wall entities.

8Select Edit >> Clipboard >> Copy

9Select the wall net entities drawn by the Multi-Wall Net command. Right-click, and select Do It to confirm selection.

10Click near to the selected wall nets when prompted for a copy origin.

11Start a new drawing, based on the Dioramas template.

It is advisable not to save the current drawing when prompted.

12Select Edit >> Clipboard >> Paste.

13When prompted for paste scale and angle, ensure that scale is set to 1, and angle is set to 0°.

14Click anywhere within the drawing when prompted for a paste origin.

15If you have the Group Objects on Insertion option on, select Insert >> Ungroup, choose the pasted wall nets, right-click, and select Do It.

16Rearrange the pasted wall nets so that they fit neatly into one or more CCD template sheets.
