Using Drawing Windows

CC3 can split your screen into a maximum of 24 windows, displaying different views of your drawing. Each window can have its own magnification factor. Each window zooms and pans independently, but all windows are active for drawing and editing commands. For example, you can draw a line that starts in one window and ends in another.

Use multiple windows when you need to:

·   Work simultaneously in widely separated areas of your drawing.

·   Work on fine details in a closely zoomed view while watching the results in an overall view.

To Add New Drawing Windows

Start a new window by selecting View > Windows > New Window. New windows can be added anywhere on the screen, even on top of one another.

To Select an Active Window

Simply click on the window’s title bar. The active window is the window affected by zoom magnification or view center changes.. Note that the active window is drawn with a 1-pixel width red border just inside the main border. Alternatively, select View > Windows > Select Window then select anywhere in the window.

To Name a Window

When a new window is created, it is given the default name "Unnamed view." Sometimes you may wish to give these views more descriptive names to facilitate printing, view sets, zoom names, etc. To give a drawing window a name, or to rename a window, use the SET VIEW NAME command (View > Windows > Set View Name). This command can be accessed by typing SVNAME at the command line or by selecting the command from the View menu.

To Size or Move Windows

To re-size a window, simply use the standard Windows procedures: Move the cursor to the edge or corner of the window until the standard cursor changes to a two-headed arrow and drag. To move a window, click on the title bar of the drawing and drag. A window can be minimized by clicking on the title bar icon image\fcw4006.gif. A window can be maximized to fill the drawing screen by clicking on the title bar icon image\fcw4007.gif.

To Close a Window

To remove a window from the screen, click on the title bar icon image\fcw4008.gif. If the drawing window had a view name, the name is not deleted. The named view can be recalled if it was saved as part of a view set or when printing the drawing.

View Sets

This command saves a set of visible windows. See View Sets command
