After you have started a new drawing and selected the race and sex of your character, you can begin putting the body parts together to create your character. The Head, Torso, Leg, 2 Arm and Other catalogs are selected with a single click. The Left and Right Arm catalogs are toggle icons; select them more that once to see the available arm combinations.

If you want to build a humanoid monster see Creating humanoid monsters

1. Select the Head body-part catalog.

We recommend starting with the head, moving on to the torso, then legs and finally arms. This reduces the amount of re-ordering you will have to do.

2. Select a head from the catalog. The eyes will appear in the current color.

If you want to have a non-standard color for your head, see Varying symbol colors

3. Click on the viewing window near the middle. The head is placed.

Because of the way we have set up the snap and grid, you don’t have to be accurate in selecting your symbol insertion point, just move the mouse until you see the symbol on the screen, then click. If thie symbol looks wrong, chances are that the symbol scale is set incorrectly, right click to see the symbol dialog box and select the Normal button.

4. Choose hair and other head parts from the catalog. Note that some helms will not fit with certain hairstyles.

5. Select the Torso catalog and add the bare torso and any other clothes and armour you wish to add.

6. Select the Leg catalog to add clothes or armour. The leg armour pieces should be placed in the order you see them in the catalog (Thigh, Shin Knee, Midriff).

7. Select either the Two arm catalog, or toggle throught the left and right arm catalogs to choose your arms. Add clothers or armour. Add weapons from the lower end of the catalog. You may need to add one of the extra hands if necessary.

8. Add any extras you want from the Other catalog. Note that there are some short cut torsos in the catalog.

9. If you are going to customise the character you have created, and want to edit individual body parts, we recommend that you use Edit > Explode on the whole character before continuing.
