Comographer Overland Maps (non-Hex)

Cosmographer has special templates for creating overland maps from planetary scale downwards. You can create these freehand (as described here) or using hexes.

 

Planetary Maps

1 From Cosmographer, Click New image\NEW.gif

2 Click Overland Plantary to map an entire planet or significant portion. Scroll down the Browse window to find a template.

  1. Click Overland Natural Features image\overland16.gif tools to add land, water terrain types and vegetation. Start with Contours 1, 2 and 3, then add woods, etc.

  2. Right-click Overland Man-made Tools image\transporttools16.gif to add roads and other routes.

  3. To add large cities (all you would see at this scale), click Overland image\hexmapping16.gif. You can also add symbols from CC3’s Filled Geometry catalog click image\catalog.gif and navigate to Symbols\Maps\Other.

Local Overland Maps

1 From Cosmographer, Click New image\NEW.gif

  1. Click Overland Local to map local regions, down to a fraction of a mile.

  2. Scroll down the Browse window to find a template.

  3. Click Overland Natural Features image\overland16.gif tools to add land, water terrain types and vegetation. Start with Contours 1, 2 and 3, then add woods, etc.

  4. Right-click Overland Man-made Tools image\transporttools16.gif to add roads and other routes.

  5. For really close up maps, click Buildings image\buildings16.gif to add individual buildings and access ways joining them.

  6. Click Transport Networks image\transport16.gif to add connecting symbols for roads, monorails, etc. On large templates, right click and increase the symbol scale before continuing.
