What are Grid, Snap and Ortho?

These drawing aids can be controlled from the Button Bar or by selecting from the Snaps submenu on the Options menu.

Grid

CC3 can display a regular pattern of grid dots to help you keep track of distances and sizes. You can set horizontal and vertical grid spacing independently. The dots are only a visual aid and are not part of your final drawing. Circular grid displays are also available. Toggle the display of the grid with the Grid button on the Button Bar.

The grid does not display on print outs. Use Grid Overlay for this

Snap locking

Snap locking makes points that you select on screen jump to coordinates at a spacing that you choose. Toggle this mode on or off with the Snap button on the Button Bar. The default setting is off.

Cursor snap

Cursor snap locks the cursor to snap points. When snap locking is on, cursor snap makes cursors "jump" to snap points instead of moving smoothly over the screen. Right click the Grid button to set this.

Orthogonal locking

Ortho locking temporarily forces new lines to be horizontal or vertical. Rubber-band cursors also lock to horizontals and verticals when orthogonal locking is on. Toggle this mode on and off with the Ortho button on the Button Bar. The default setting is off.

Align Grid

Aligns the grid to a selected point.
