Freeze

Freezing a layer is the same as "write-protecting" that layer. You can see entities on frozen layers and refer to them with modifiers, but you can't select them for edit or copy operations.

The current layer cannot be frozen. Hidden and shown layers can both be frozen.

Note: Layers can be frozen anytime the Select Layer dialog box is displayed, no matter what command invokes it.

The prompt reads "Layer name [Dialog]:". To select the layer to freeze:

· Type an existing layer name and press ENTER.

· Right-click to display the Select Layer dialog box. Highlight the layer you wish to freeze and check the Freeze box. An "F" should appear in the box next to the layer name. You can select more than one layer to freeze. Choose OK to confirm the changes and close the dialog box.

CC3 redraws the screen, protecting all entities on the frozen layer(s).

To freeze all layers except the current layer:

Use the FREEZE ALL command (Options > Layer Options > Freeze All).

To thaw (un-freeze) a frozen layer:

Use the THAW command (Options > Layer Options > Thaw).
