Hex symbols allow you to create maps with solid filled hexes quickly and easily. Currently only Cosmographer has hex symbols.
Select a catalog with hex symbols in.
Note the orientation (vertical or horizontal) of the symbols.
If your current map does not have a hex grid on it already, click Hex grid , ensuring that your grid is the same orientation as the symbols’.
Click a hex symbol, now click on the map. The symbols scale to match the current hex grid.
With a symbol selected, drag. A trail of hexes is left behind, deleting any existing hexes.
Open an existing drawing or start a new blank one.
Add a hex grid using Hex grid , to draw on. Make sure the Set Hex Grid option is on, with centers, corners and midpoints selected.
Freeze the HEX/SQUARE grid layer, and make the SYMBOL DEFINITION layer current
Zoom into a single hex. Create a hex symbol which fills the entire hex. Add symbols from other catalogs in the center of the hex if you want.
Draw more hex symbols.
Click Symbols menu > Define Symbol and define each symbol in turn.
Click Symbol Manager, select each symbol in turn, click Edit.
Click Symbol Options and select Hex symbol on each.
Save the drawing as a catalog.
