Configure XPs

Confgure XPs is a text-only command.

External Procedures (XP’s) are assembly-language or C modules that let qualified third party developers add new commands and entities to CC3. (Each module can contain many commands.) External procedure commands run at full CC3 speeds and otherwise act just like normal CC3 commands (they Undo, they repeat properly, modifiers work with them, and so on). Type XPCFG and press ENTER to access the dialog box.

Free XP’s are sometimes available from our web site http://www.profantasy.com

External modules can include fractal landscaping , character generation, date/time stamping, campaign information, pop-up calculators--almost anything programmers can imagine and tell their computers to do.

CONFIGURE XPs lets you manually load or unload eXternal Procedures modules. The Installed Modules dialog box is displayed.

Installed Modules dialog box options

About

Displays a text screen listing module information. This information is provided by the author of the individual XP commands. A list of commands found in the XP text screen along with a short description of each function should appear.

Install

Displays the Install XP Module dialog box. Select the name of the module you want installed by typing or clicking with the mouse. It will then be listed as installed in the Installed Modules dialog box.

Remove

To remove an XP module:

Highlight the module you wish to remove.

Click the Remove button.

CC3 asks, with an alert box "Remove Filename.XP?".

Click Yes to remove the module.

Removing an Installed Module does not delete the file itself from the hard disk. Depending on several factors, you may find a maximum number of XPs you can have installed at the same time. Removing unused modules will free up room for new modules.
