Sheets are like stack of transparent pieces. Each sheet can have multiple entities on it. The sheets can be made visible or hidden, and each sheet can have multiple effects applied to it. A CC3 drawing might have an BACKGROUND sheet, one for the sea contours, another for land, and further ones for roads, rivers, symbols, a grid overlay and a map border.
