Cartographer's Annual 2007

The Cartographer's Annual Vol 2

Lighted Dungeons Example 1

July ’08

The July Annual introduces a new tool in the Dungeon mapper's arsenal: Dynamic lights and shadows to illuminate maps in new and unforseen ways. This includes tools to define viewpoints and shadow-casting obsctructions that will enable you to create fog-of-war effects.

Lighted Dungeons Example 2

In addition to new lighting commands, specially set up templates and example maps, the issue will contain DD3 symbols with included light sources. Just put a torch on a wall, turn on sheet effects, and you'll see the flickering torch-light illuminate corridors and rooms and cast shadows across the floor. And of course a mapping guide explains everything in detail.

The tool pack Lighted Dungeons includes

  • 1 example map (with pdf and png exports included)
  • 1 new dungeon template wizard
  • 1 new effect settings
  • 1 new symbol catalog consisting of new 37 symbols including DD3 bitmaps and light entities
  • 1 4-page mapping guide
  • 1 new version of Effects.dll including 6 new light sources commands (ADDLIGHT, ADDLIGHTM, LIGHTSHOW, LIGHTHIDE, LIGHTTOG, LIGHTS)
  • 2 new sheet effects ("Wall Shadow, Point Light Setp" and "Wall Shadow, Point Light Finalize")
  • 1 new menu entry "Lights"
