Entering distance values

When you enter a measurement of distance (for example, line width), measurements may be typed in CC3 units, or decimal fractions of CC3 units.

·   Select distance visually. For example, instead of typing a value for text height, use the cursor and left button to select a point anywhere on the screen. Now the prompt reads "distance to:". Use the cursor to select another point at the desired distance from the first point. CC3 measures the distance between the two points and uses that value, just as if you had typed it.

·   Type a value as a whole or floating point number.

·   Type the measurement in conventional fractions of units, using a plus-sign (+) to separate whole numbers from fractional parts. Do not include spaces in the value or coordinate pair. Spaces instead of (+) will be displayed in dialog boxes, as well as in LIST.

Note: If you use a dash (-) as a separator, CC3 will interpret it as a minus or negative sign! For example, if you attempt to enter the coordinates (4.25,5.5) in fractional units as (4-1/4,5-1/2), CC3 will think you mean (3.75,4.5). Instead, enter the coordinates as (4+1/4,5+1/2).

·   Type the measurement in feet-and-inches. Use an apostrophe (') for feet, and a quote (") for inches. Do not include spaces in the value or coordinate pair. CC3 automatically converts from feet and inches to whatever unit system you have defined. For example, if drawing units are defined as FEET and you type coordinates (24",18"), CC3 converts this (internally) to (2,1.5). Use a plus-sign (+) to separate whole inches from fractional inches.
